The once great movie franchise that was Fox’s X-Men universe may have limped over the line with Dark Phoenix and New Mutants, but there are two characters whose popularity and appeal never faltered. Not even once.

Now, as if prayers have been answered by Kevin Feige, they are both coming to the MCU. In September 2024, Ryan Reynolds will make his MCU debut as Deadpool, and as if that wasn’t enough, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine is returning with him.

Both in the MCU together, Marvel Studios has the opportunity to make the kind of mind-blowing movie that X-Men Origins: Wolverine never was. There will be no sewing up Wade Wilson’s mouth. No giving him powers that he never had, essentially turning him into a completely different character. There will almost certainly be jokes about it, but what MCU fans can expect to see is the absolute best out of both of these characters, and the actors themselves.

The Deadpool franchise has always been a passion project of Ryan Reynolds', and even without Logan's return this movie would have found itself near the top of this list. Hugh Jackman does take things to a whole new level, however.
