17. Grindelwald's Insane Escape

The film of course begins with Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) escaping from MACUSA custody with a little help from his pal Abernathy (Kevin Guthrie).

What probably should've been an epic, unforgettable escape sequence akin to Bane's introduction in The Dark Knight Rises, however, ends up a peculiar mess of dodgy CGI with some occasionally spectacular moments.

The magical switcharoo to get Grindelwald out of the carriage isn't particularly clever or interesting, but the set-piece is at least mildly amusing as a feat of brainless schlock, if you can accept the fact it's objectively one of the worst-crafted action sequences in the entire Potter franchise.
