Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald hits cinemas worldwide this week, and if its current lukewarm critical reception holds firm, it's set to be the first Rotten movie in the ten-film Wizarding World franchise.

And though the hardcore Potter crowd are sure to derive a fair level of enjoyment from the film, for more casual viewers it'll be tough to overlook its staggering multitude of flaws and awful creative choices.

Already compared to the Star Wars prequels by several prominent critics - and rightly so - The Crimes of Grindelwald commits a shocking number of easy sequel mistakes, undoing a lot of the good work director David Yates put in last time around.

The worst thing of all? Short of the film absolutely tanking at the box office - which it absolutely won't - there's at least three more Fantastic Beasts movies to come.

With the third film set to start shooting next summer, there's not a ton of time left for J.K. Rowling to course-correct things...
