In the comics Ben Grimm (future Thing) was raised in poverty, something the new film looks like it'll be expanding on. This shot shows Grimm Salvage, probably owned by Ben's father. Growing up in a literal junkyard is a rather on the nose way to represent hardship, but it'll serve as a good shorthand for the character's backstory. The shot pans up to the stars, a neat nod to the characters' Silver Age origins.
