Awkward is not really the proper word. More like just downright uncomfortable. Do you ever see groups of people reading this book together out loud? No, because it would just be awkward. The banter between Christian and Ana during their bedroom scenes while maybe true to some people's lives will never grace the pages of a screenplay. Don't believe me? Offended by my words? Okay, next time your with friends sit down and read the dialogue in this book out loud. One of you be Ana and the other Christian. I guarantee that between fits of uncontrollable laughter will be hard embarassed blushing. Said out loud it just sounds ridiculous. Which is exactly what would happen in a movie theater. No one would enjoy it, they would be to busy feeling self-conscious by all the people around them. As pointed out many a time in other sources, Fifty Shades is meant to be read in your bedroom, underneath the sheets, and alone.
