Full cast of victims for THE CABIN IN THE WOODS
I love the balls-to-the-wall claim from Joss Whedon that THE CABIN IN THE WOODS is "the horror movie to end all horror movies. He is almost inviting ridicule from those who don't like his creations BUFFY, SERENITY and DOLLHOUSE, who right now as we speak are already predicting that this movie is going to fail. The negative talk seemed to have increased after the apparent big "plot surprise" was actually rather timid and not really as new or unconventional as we thought. That might be a spoiler for you guys, so I won't mention it anymore. Personally, I'm on the fence right now. I like the idea of seeing a movie that rejuvenates a dead genre (guys, didn't you see FRIDAY THE 13th?) and in their own ways, Drew Goddard with CLOVERFIELD and Joss Whedon with BUFFY have already succeeded on this front with their previous work. But I will agree, their concept could easily get boring and/or very, very silly, very fast. Regardless, I'm anxious to see a horror movie led by two middle aged character actor veterans, one of them being the recently Oscar nominated Richard Jenkins. And with Wes Craven's new flick 25/8, with Kevin Williamson writing a new SCREAM, with stuff like CLOVERFIELD and now this movie... maybe there's hope for the future of this genre. There are people attempting to try something new and I'm not going to knock anyone for that. MGM have today released a list of the young twenty-something, sexy victims who Jenkins and Bradley Whitford will enjoy killing... Kristen Connolly (REVOLUTIONARY ROAD, THE HAPPENING)...
"Finding this ensemble has been very hard and very rewarding," observed Whedon, who continued, ...Each of the 'kids' is unique, fascinating and talented, and like true friends, the group is more than the sum of its parts. These are people you care about, able to go toe-to-toe with the amazing actors we've corralled thus far, and not unpretty in the bargain. I can't wait to harm them."CLOVERFIELD writer Drew Goddard makes his directorial debut from a written co-scripted with Joss Whedon. The film will open February 5th 2010 and production is well under-way in Vancouver. source - the hollywood reporter
