Garth Ennis' THE BOYS are called up by Columbia!
It's been a wild 48 hours for comic book movies with all that's gone down regarding the WOLVERINE prequel and late last night the pickups of the acclaimed Manga series AKIRA and then the news that David Fincher has attached himself to BLACK HOLE.

And today it continues. I've yet to read this series from Garth Ennis but I've heard something amazing things about it. Similar to the great movie UNBREAKABLE, it's a more grounded in reality superhero tale. A very dark and more sombre look at those men in tights. At least that's how it reads. Columbia Pictures has acquired the rights to indie comicbook "The Boys" and will develop a feature adaptation along with producer Neal H. Moritz and his Sony-based Original Film banner. Created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, the contemporary-set comicbook series follows a CIA squad, known informally as "the boys," whose job is to keep watch on the proliferation of superheroes and, if necessary, intimidate or eliminate them.Sounds really cool to me. Ennis was the creator of the great PREACHER series which HBO have in development right now. And casting the movie? Well how about Joe Carnahan to direct and from the looks of their faces (remember I've never read the novel) from bottom left how about Ray Liotta, Simon Pegg, Chiaki Kuriyama, Laurence Fishburne and Sam Huntington to star? Who thinks I will get at least one of them correct? source - variety
