Gary Oldman Says Chris Nolan's THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Will Top Last Batman Movie

By Matt Holmes /

Gary Oldman has begun the press round duties for Red Riding Hood and inevitably questions about The Dark Knight Rises have been brought up, which led to these quotes the veteran Brit actor gave to MTV about Chris Nolan's next film;
"It's a great, great story," says Oldman, though he confirms that he hasn't read the full script yet, "You look at 'The Dark Knight' and you think, 'How's he going to top it?' But I think he has. The scope and also the way he brings it back to 'Batman Begins... and really what Bruce Wayne discovers about himself. What he learns about himself at the end of this one."
As we've said for a few weeks now, with the return of The League of Shadows and from what looks to be a major role from Talia Al Ghul (potentially played by Marion Cotillard) which could leave the door open for a Ra's Al Ghul return (at least Liam Neeson is hoping so), it's clear Nolan is signing off his time with The Caped Crusader by going full circle to where he started. Can't wait to see how he accomplishes it. Filming will begin in a couple of months for a release July 20th, 2012.
