The follow-up to La La Land sees Ryan Gosling play Neil Armstrong, as Chazelle chronicles the years of innovation, danger, and loss that led the US to the moon landings. It will take in similar themes to the director's previous movies, Whiplash and La La Land, with a focus on personal drive and the cost of dreaming and it's very quickly become one of the most anticipated movies of 2018.

It was written by Josh Singer (Spotlight) and also stars Claire Foy, Jason Clarke, Kyle Chandler, Patrick Fugit, Ciaran Hinds, Ethan Embry, Shea Whigham, Corey Stoll, and Pablo Schreiber. The film opens in traditional and IMAX theaters on October 12th, when fans will see some of the scenes that were shot using IMAX cameras - one of which will be the focus of the teaser ahead of Fallout.

Here’s the official synopsis for the hotly anticipated movie:

On the heels of their six-time Academy Award®-winning smash, La La Land, Oscar®-winning director Damien Chazelle and star Ryan Gosling reteam for Universal Pictures’ First Man, the riveting story of NASA’s mission to land a man on the moon, focusing on Neil Armstrong and the years 1961-1969. A visceral, first-person account, based on the book by James R. Hansen, the movie will explore the sacrifices and the cost—on Armstrong and on the nation—of one of the most dangerous missions in history.
