Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire Review - 4 Ups & 6 Downs
1. Patton Oswalt & James Acaster Are Fun Additions
And finally, though the cast is massively overcrowded, there are two majorly worthwhile additions to the ensemble.
First off, Patton Oswalt shows up for a brief but hilarious scene as Dr. Hubert Wartzki, a nerdy historian who reveals Garraka's backstory to the heroes in a part that basically feels tailor-made for Oswalt's sensibilities.
In a scene that could've felt like more snoozy exposition with another actor involved, Oswalt brings a ton of peppy life to it.
And then there's British comic James Acaster, who plays Lars Pinfield, an engineer working for Winston who effectively functions as a new version of Egon without ever feeling like a 1:1 replacement.
It's hilariously unexpected to see Acaster in a massive Hollywood movie, but he proves himself a natural, with his one-liner about an evil Spin Doctors CD mustering one of the film's few genuine belly laughs.
