Ghostbusters Reviews: 10 Reactions You Need To Know

10. It's Nowhere Near As Good As The Original (But That's Okay)

A common thread running through most of the reviews so far is the fact that Ghostbusters isn't anywhere near as good as the original, a verdict backed with the positive note of that not necessarily being a bad thing. Who expected it to be better than the original movie, after all? We only wanted "not awful," right?

In his review for MovieWeb, critic Julian Roman said that "Ghostbusters isn't remotely on par with the original, but by no means terrible," a sentiment that was also echoed by Eric Eisenberg of CinemaBlend in his own review, who stated:

"No, Paul Feig's Ghostbusters is not as good as Ivan Reitman's 1984 hit. But it is still a fun blockbuster worthy of curiosity and delivering a great number of laughs."

Pajiba's critic Rebecca Pahle had something similiar to say:

"Feig’s Ghostbusters isn’t as good as Ivan Reitman’s. That said, Ghostbusters is still a very fun, solid action comedy."

Movie-goers were probably expecting a movie that fell way, way short of the 1984 version, but the critics have generally agreed that, although this Ghostbusters isn't anywhere close to the stand of the Reitman film, it isn't plainly rubbish, either.
