Two of the biggest (quite literally) monster movies heading to cinemas, Godzilla 2 and Godzilla Vs. Kong, have switched up their release dates. Warner Bros. have announced a date of March 22nd 2019 for the Gareth Evans sequel and May 19th 2020 for the giant lizard's eagerly anticipated showdown with Kong.

As reported over at The Wrap, the decision to move the date for Godzilla 2 was made to avoid clashing with the release of Paramount's Transformers 6 on June 8th 2018, instead going up against another Paramount film, Amusement Park, which will be aimed at a younger audience.

Godzilla Vs. Kong's new date means that the monster mash-up will have little competition at the box office, with currently only an untitled Marvel movie scheduled for early May 2020 likely to impact upon ticket sales.

Additional details have also been released regarding two currently untitled Warner Bros. releases. An untitled big event movie now scheduled for December 25th 2018, sharing the release date with an untitled live-action Disney movie. An additional DC movie due for release on July 24th 2020, believed to be Green Lantern Corps, will arrive on July 24th 2020, hot on the heels of a new film from Marvel Studios.

If all this sounds like a long way off, Kong fans can get their fix of the huge ape with Skull Island. Starring Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson and Brie Larson, the prequel to King Kong, which moved production from Universal Studios to Warner Bros. last year, is due to hit theatres on March 17th 2017.
