Godzilla Vs. Kong Review: 6 Ups & 4 Downs

1. It's Totally Predictable

There are certainly far worse sins for a movie like this to commit, but you shouldn't expect many surprises from Godzilla vs. Kong narratively speaking.

It clings to all the expected "vs. movie" beats, and if you've been paying even casual attention to the marketing you'll know exactly where the story is headed.

To Wingard's mild credit there is at least a decisive victor between the two monsters by film's end, but it won't shock anyone to learn that they ultimately end up joining forces to battle something altogether mightier.

Again, the predictability won't ruin anyone's fun, but it sure would be nice to see a vs. movie that gets a little more adventurous with its plotting and structure one of these days.

These gripes aside, though, there's a lot in this movie to enjoy. Here's what Godzilla vs. Kong gets right...
