Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2: Does Spoilerific B-Roll Footage Confirm A Big Return?
Also teases Earth-set action sequence...
In the last few days before Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2's release, Marvel seem to be going big on the marketing (as if it's even remotely necessary), releasing scenes and teasing even more with new advertising spots. Probably the biggest dump of treasure we've seen so far has come courtesy of the B-Roll Blooper Footage (it's not funny, because it's not that kind of blooper), which Marvel have released to build hype further.
There's a lot of stuff in there, and if you're avoiding spoilers, it's probably best to move along now.
Seriously, right now.
We get some good shots in there of the scene teased in the trailer of Nebula attacking Gamora and crashing her ship (the footage reveals Gamora saves her life before it explodes, which is new), and footage of Kurt Russell's Ego talking with Peter Quill. There's also teases of Yondu's part in what looks like the climactic Celestial set fight with Ayesha's drone army (using his Yaka Arrow) and a couple of Ravager attack scenes.
Interestingly some are saying that the footage possibly confirms the return of Big Groot - given the way Vin Diesel delivers one of his lines - but there's no saying whether that will be modified using the same voice-changing technology as is being used for the rest of his voice. It just seems odd that he'd drop his voice so far only to be changed...
More concrete is the footage in there of the Earth-set action, which presumably comes during the semi-confirmed flash-back showing Ego and Meredith Quill's meeting and the conception of Peter. Up until now, it wasn't really clear how that would go down, or why Ego ends up leaving Earth, but by the look of it he might be driven off planet by whatever force is attacking in this footage.
It's all pretty interesting stuff and shows off a lot of hints of the action, though some will inevitably be annoyed that there's so much in there this close to the movie's release.
For fans of spoilers though, it's a little goldmine...
