Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2: Kurt Russell Confirmed As Ego

Plus a new logo, and Baby Groot wins the Internet.

So, Kurt Russell has been confirmed as playing Peter Quill's father, and also to be playing a giant man-planet. Those are wildly difficult thing to process at the same time.

Thanks to Marvel's Comic Con presence, we've got confirmation that Russell is playing the human form of Ego, the Living Planet in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2, who initially appeared in Thor as an antagonist. Quite how he came to romance Quill's mother remains to be seen when he's usually off attempting to conquer galaxies. Hopefully we will not see any sort of scene involving her making sweet love to a giant planet.

Luckily, there was confirmation that his character has a penis, which is always useful. So you can colour in those imaginative images in your head yourself, because I don't plan to.

I definitely want Russell as planet merchandise and toys though.

According to SlashFilm, the footage of the film shown at the Con confirmed what has long been suspected: that Baby Groot is going to win the Internet...

He also made positive noises about the teaser that was shown...

Sylvester Stallone was also finally confirmed for a role, but the specifics were kept under wraps, unsurprisingly. Maybe he'll be Alter-Ego, Ego's twin brother who hates him? That'd be a nice riff on Tango & Cash.

Kevin Feige also announced a brand new Guardians of the Galaxy ride at Disneyland California and unveiled a first look...
