Why?
The Guardians' self-appointed leader, complete with new Daddy Issues is going nowhere. Killing him off would be like killing Captain America in the first Avengers movie, and the idea that Marvel wouldn't want to bring him back for at least another sequel (and possibly a spin-off) is completely perverse.

Chris Pratt's performance is almost at the same level as Robert Downey Jr's in terms of success, and there's no possibly way his quest to discover his father will end up with HIM dying. That's just bad story-telling.
