10. Michael Kills Judith (Halloween)

Easily one of the most disturbing scenes in the entire franchise is the very first one, where on Halloween night 1963, a six-year-old Michael Myers (Will Sandin) murders his older sister Judith (Sandy Johnson).

Surely the best-directed sequence in the movie, it unfolds entirely from a first-person perspective within Michael's Halloween mask, as he watches his sister disappear upstairs with her boyfriend, before grabbing a knife, heading upstairs and stabbing her as she sits in a state of undress.

With Judith dead, Michael heads outside just as his parents are coming home, leading to the wonderfully chilling shot of Michael, dressed in a clown costume, holding a bloody knife as his parents look on in shock. It's one of the most iconic scenes in the horror genre for damn fine, mightily unsettling reason.
