5. It's A Bold Sequel That Tries Something Different
As wilfully, often frustratingly divisive as this movie is, Green does get a measure of credit for not just serving up yet another over-familiar Halloween movie in which Michael Myers slaughters his way through Haddonfield.
From the very first scene, he plays with audience expectations in a way that's incredibly bold and, at times, genuinely exciting.
Much of it doesn't fully work if at all, but one suspects that Ends will earn itself a cult of defenders in the years to come - just as happened with the polarising Halloween III: Season of the Witch - who laud the filmmakers for deviating from the well-trod path.
Many will feel that the franchise finale probably wasn't the right time to experiment with something this left-field, but in the very least the series didn't bow out with another generic slash-a-thon.
