The latest instalment in the Halloween franchise has finally been given a face - and it's a particularly haggard one. In the first poster for the 2018 title Halloween, Michael Myers' infamous mask is star of the show, highlighting 40 years of wear and tear against a starkly black background.

The poster comes as the first promotional material to surface for the movie, with exactly six months to go until Halloween's release date of 19th October. With Jamie Lee Curtis reprising the role of Laurie Strode for the final time, Halloween will act as a direct sequel to the events of the 1978 classic - effectively wiping the slate clean for the other nine films in the franchise.

Promising to be full of fun references and loyal to the series that has defined modern horror, writers Danny McBride and David Gordon Green (who also directs) have paired with horror icon John Carpenter and Jason Blum as producers: offering high hopes for an original, frightening, and most importantly, fitting, addition to a horror universe that has lasted the ages.
