Happy Death Day Review: 5 Ups & 5 Downs

1. It Cleverly Subverts Expectations

Again, no spoilers here, but the film does have a few aces up its sleeve, especially later on, in terms of leading audiences down a certain path and then smartly pulling the rug out from under them.

For a while it seems like the film has under-estimated audiences and seems set to deliver a lackluster conclusion, but writer Scott Lobdell throws in some curve-balls sure to keep viewers on their toes until the credits finally roll.

Basically, the various twists and turns are surprising enough that they'll pass muster with not just the PG-13 crowd, but also genre experts with decades of film viewing under their belts.
