5. It's Disappointingly Tame

Universal

Despite its focus on a woman being caught in a cycle of death, Happy Death Day is a PG-13 horror movie, meaning that it's incredibly low on gore, and the film has clearly had its edges sanded down for the teen set.

An R rating would've been so beneficial to a film like this, allowing for Tree's various death scenes to be comically over-the-top, while the satirical sorority girl chatter would sound much more authentic with a cruder tongue.

Instead, it ends up feeling incredibly tame for the most part, and considering the film's low budget, it's a damn shame it wasn't aimed more towards adults rather than adolescents.
