Harley Quinn Almost Had A Very Different Costume In Suicide Squad
And could it still make an appearance in a sequel?
Hello Giggles, Robbie explained that they didn't land on the look she sports in the film without serious consideration.
Not too sure about Harley Quinn's skimpy, "Daddy's Lil Monster" get-up in Suicide Squad? Well, it's not been used as a shortcut; in the pre-production phase for the supervillain team-up, Margot Robbie, director David Ayer and the costume department actually went through every major costume Harley has had. Talking to "Oh, we tried on every variation of the costume. I cannot emphasis enough how many outfits, and how many variations of the Harley Quinn costume we tried. We tried the court jester costume, we tried the corset and skirt, we tried leather pants, we tried literally every type of costume possible for her. I really love where we ended up."Whilst the infamous Court Jester look from Batman: The Animated Series (where Quinn first made her appearance) would have been awesome to see thrown up on screen, it might not have fit in with the gritty street-clothes aesthetic adopted by half the Squad - El Diablo is walking around in a vest, for goodness' sake - nor the tactical element adopted by Deadshot or Rick Flag. I'm not saying that shiny purple 'shorts' are that tactical, but they definitely allow for more freedom of movement than a onesie. In any event, if you were hoping to see the court jester look (or even the corset-and-skirt My Chemical Romance, Arkham Asylum vibe), you might be in luck when it comes time for the inevitable sequel;
"...who knows, maybe in the sequels well go with the court jester one. I think theres a world of possibilities."Are you happy with the costume choice they ended up with in the film? Would you have preferred to see the court jester costume this time out? Let us know in the comments below!
Suicide Squad is released on 5th August.
