Have Marvel Found Their Captain Marvel In The Room's Brie Larson?
Oscar-winner now the front-runner for the MCU's first female lead.
After a quiet so deafening it was suspected Marvel might secretly shunt Captain Marvel out of its release date and into No Man's Land with The Inhumans, it looks like the company may finally be closing in on their first casting announcement.
According to Variety, Kevin Feige has his eye on Oscar-winner Brie Larson, who is now "in early talks" to play Captain Marvel for the MCU's first REAL female-lead movie. (Of course Ant-Man & The Wasp sort of counts, but shared titles aren't enough for some).
Variety's source also say Larson is "leaning towards playing the part", and that Marvel are keen to cast the lead before they get a director in, in order to potentially introduce her before the stand-alone releases. Kevin Feige has said Captain Marvel won't arrive "fully formed" any time before her own movie, but there's always a chance of a cameo by Carol Danvers elsewhere before she's given Mar'Vell's powers.
Inside Out's writer Meg LeFauve and Guardians Of The Galaxy's Nicole Perlman are in the process of writing the script, while Kevin Feige is inevitably producing.
