After a thoroughly nervy period where Ed Skrein was originally cast as the Japanese-American Ben Daimio, Hellboy finally found the right actor in Daniel Dae Kim, who'd previously starred in both Lost and Hawaii Five-0.

Kim's a great choice to replace Skrein, certainly so, given how the film came dangerously close to perpetuating Hollywood's tendency to whitewash comic book characters. Better still, Kim's attachment to the project comes in the wake of his exit from Five-0 over a pay dispute, so to see him getting work so soon after is brilliant, to say the least.

Indeed, Daimio - who can transform into a jaguar in the comics - is one of the most multidimensional members of the B.P.R.D., and one Kim will no doubt enjoy bringing to the big screen. A positive move for all concerned.
