My favourite movie theatre, the Tyneside Cinema in my local haunt Newcastle upon Tyne has excitedly been shortlisted for a Shorty Award, named after The Shortys - who celebrate 'organisations and people using Twitter to best communicate with their followers and the world!' Those cinema lovers are up for the Best Cultural Institution Shorty and they deserve your vote. I know I'm asking a lot of you, especially with OWF's place in the Sky Movies Blog of the Year awards (which if you haven't voted, please do!) but if you are a fan of cinema and are tired of the junk that plays nationwide in multiplexes, then support a local theatre house like this which promotes the independents and the classics more than the latest whiz, bang, CGI showcase.
