Henry Cavill Is SUPERMAN!

By Matt Holmes /

Breaking news on a Sunday of all days - Henry Cavill has been announced as Zack Snyder's The Man of Steel for his forthcoming reboot of Earth's favourite alien orphan. That's right, we have a Brit Superman, just like we have a Welsh-born, English Batman! Undoubtedly that won't please some. Warner Bros. just announced it...
Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures announced today that Henry Cavill has won the coveted role of Superman, the iconic superhero.
The film will be directed by Zack Snyder, who stated, €œIn the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time, and I am honored to be a part of his return to the big screen. I also join Warner Bros., Legendary and the producers in saying how excited we are about the casting of Henry. He is the perfect choice to don the cape and S shield.€

Cavill will be 28 years old when filming begins in the summer (AICN say in four months time) and he stands 6 foot 1 inches tall (1.85 m) with boyish good lucks and a formidable chin. You will recognise him from The Tudors, Tristan & Isolde and Stardust. He is set to lead the upcoming Greek mythology Immortals. Until today though, Cavill was most famous for carrying the unfortunate stigma of being known as the unluckiest young man in Hollywood. That's because he auditioned for Batman in Batman Begins, Superman in Superman Returns, James Bond for Casino Royale, Superman again for JLA and I€™m certain he was circling Watchmen and Green Lantern €“ but despite favourable feedback from all directors €“ he was always pipped to the post by someone else. Notably he was also Stephenie Meyer€™s choice to play Edward when she was writing the lucrative Twilight novels but by the time they became films, he was too old. Talk about unlucky. Well until today... What's your thoughts on the casting? Do Tell.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5s3Y1NA29tA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3rrFZWMgno
