As the Master of Lake-town's servant, this weaselly, Wormtongue-esque creep doesn't seem long for this world. An original creation for The Desolation of Smaug, Alfrid spent most of his appearances as a thorn in Bard's side or attached at the hip to the Master. There's not a whole lot of depth to the character outside of being an extra antagonistic obstacle in Bard's way, but considering that characters like him don't tend to get happy endings, we're fully expecting him to get roasted by Smaug during the attack on Lake-town.
