The son of Azog will undoubtedly meet his demise in the film. In the novel, Bolg essentially plays the Azog role, at least in terms of the Battle of the Five Armies, in that he's the one who led his troops into the fray and helped seal Thorin's fate before finally being killed by Beorn. With Azog alive and kicking, though, we fully expect Bolg's death to come at the hands of someone else: Legolas. Near the end of The Desolation of Smaug, Bolg and Legolas get into a brutal fight in Lake-town that Bolg manages to not only escape from, but even makes the usually unruffled elf bleed. In their final appearance in the film, Bolg is seen fleeing Lake-town with Legolas in pursuit. Considering Legolas' track record, Bolg might as well keep running, because now it's personal.
