20 Horror Sequels That Took FOREVER To Get Made

11. Return to Silent Hill

2006's Silent Hill adaptation marked one of Hollywood's first attempts at taking video games seriously, and while it was plenty flawed in its own right, director Christophe Gans brought a whole ton of style to the table and delivered a modest commercial success.

Gans soon enough got to work developing a sequel based on the beloved second game in the series, though with producers instead desiring a 3D-centric follow-up that strayed far from Gans' vision, he walked away.

Silent Hill: Revelation was finally released in 2012 where it was pummelled by critics while also underperforming at the box office, and so another 14 years would pass before a third film graced our screens.

After years of tireless campaigning, Gans was finally able to make his Silent Hill 2 movie, Return to Silent Hill, though considering how poorly received it was by critics and fans alike, there's a fair argument that he should've just left well alone.
