2. The Perfection

The marketing for Netflix's The Perfection quite shrewdly sold it as a Black Swan-esque horror film about the psychological warfare between two duelling cellists (Allison Williams and Logan Browning).

But this is ultimately just the springboard for a far more complex and surprising film which dabbles around in different, unexpected genres and utilises a non-linear narrative structure to bamboozle the viewer with some fantastically WTF reveals.

While the initial synopsis isn't wholly inaccurate as presented, it doesn't do justice to the entire journey the film is unknowingly setting us on - but that's absolutely a good thing in the grand scheme of things.

Some of its wilder narrative turns won't be for everyone - hence the relatively mixed critical and audience reviews - but The Perfection takes several incredibly fearless swings and does so with the full courage of its creative convictions, all while delivering some horrifically gnarly home truths.
