Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation Review - 4 Ups & 5 Downs

A dubious high for the franchise.

The third entry into the Hotel Transylvania franchise has finally landed in U.K. cinemas, and while its release is sure to be overshadowed by the brilliant Mission: Impossible - Fallout landing this very same week, the animated sequel will probably still play well with undemanding family audiences. Hell, it's basically tripled its budget already overseas.

Marginally scoring the best reviews of the series, Summer Vacation isn't a particularly inspired or impressive movie all things considered, but it is nevertheless a mild step up for the franchise, even if there's probably not much gas left for a potential fourth instalment.

Considering how terrible "...on vacation!" comedy sequels so often turn out, the fact that this is a relatively watchable, easy sit should be somewhat commended.

It's not must-see filmmaking and you can easily wait for it to hit home video - especially with the British weather being what it is right now - but if you're bored and looking for 90 minutes to kill, you could do far worse...
