How The Avengers Could Line Up After Infinity War

Audiences might have to wait until 2019 to see Brie Larson as Marvel's latest Captain, but that doesn't mean she's not involved in Avengers 4.
While her solo film is said to be a prequel, it's important to remember that so was The First Avenger - Captain America's first MCU outing. With the character's cosmic roots firmly in place, and with Thanos being about as cosmic as they get, there's nothing to say that Carol Danvers won't be showing up at the end of Infinity War, begetting a more significant role in the film's immediate follow up.
Most interesting of all, however, is that Carol is a leader. Aside from Steve (and perhaps Tony), the Avengers lack a personality of that kind, and while there's no doubt another character will step in to fill the void left by Steve (in a rather literal sense), the Avengers still need a leader.
Carol can be that leader, irrespective of how or when she arrives.
