How To Reboot The Resident Evil Franchise
How The Plot Should Be Handled

This shouldn't be so hard since the game has a pretty much linear plot, however since they managed to change the plot of the game in the very first movie (even in George A. Romero's first script), I believe we should expect one or two changes in the final product. However, if they're going to make changes in the movie, I suggest they should abstain themselves of creating original characters. The games have tons of characters, it isn't necessary for them to create new ones. Hell introducing them and giving them proper character development (or at least, better than the one given in the movies) shouldn't be too hard. With the right director and a good script all the characters can be introduced and given enough screen time for the audience to care about them. Or hell why not making everything easier and just make it like the original cutscenes from the game. Ok, maybe not like that but you get the point. The plot of the game is quite simple (and actually very short) so it shouldn't be too hard to adapt the plot. The biggest problem right now is to transfer the atmosphere of the game to the movie. The game didn't require too much blood or dark environments to become one of the creepiest games in history. However that's not how horror movie works (or at least, that's not Hollywood's vision of horror) so it's possible that they'll change the whole atmosphere for the film. Y'know, very little lighting and lots of CGI blood. But this might not be the way the movie ends up being like, maybe with the proper director this could be an incredible mix of action and horror. With that being said...
