Huge Prometheus Spoiler Arrives In New TV Spot
Honestly - Avoid this if you want to remain spoiler free for the new Ridley Scott film. You have been warned.
Firstly, what the hell is that thing? Is that the thing that's taken out of Shaw in the medical lab? And if so, is Ridley Scott going for the the 'bigger means better' approach to sequels/prequels?
Secondly, what are we seeing here? Looking at the footage (a lot) it strikes me that the Space Jockey is either taken out before he can attack Shaw or possibly Shaw opens the door knowing whatever the hell the giant tentacle thing is inside will give the Space Jockey something to worry about other than her ("DIE!!!" from earlier trailers = plus we know she knows it's in there after the brief tentacle shot from previous trailers). It also raises the question, is the Space Jockey on board to take this Human/Alien hybrid back or possibly he's there to destroy it? I have to say I still haven't got a grasp on the Space Jockey suits. Sometimes they look dark and grey, other times pale and bone like. The Jockey in this shot certainly seems paler than the shot of the one standing upright above Shaw but the lighting seems diffrent as well and judging by the numerous TV spots over the last two weeks, many tweaks and digital additions have taken place, so maybe pale ivory/cream Space Jockey colours are in to tie everything together with what we know of the chair bound travellers from the original Alien.
Either way. This snippet of footage seems to be offering up a much bigger beastie than we expected and whether it's a giant facehugger, a variation of the Alien we know or something new, Prometheus doesn't seem to have unveiled all its secrets just yet.
Prometheus opens June 1st in the UK, June 8th in the US and frankly it's just not soon enough.
