10 Upcoming Horror Movies You Aren't Ready For
7. The End Of Oak Street
Even though David Robert Mitchell made a name for himself with It Follows, he hasn't helmed anything in almost a decade. As a result, it's exciting to learn he's overseeing another WTF-level horror called The End of Oak Street.
Produced by J.J. Abrams and Bad Robot, the wild thriller follows the Platt family who discover their entire neighbourhood has been transported to an otherworldly environment, populated by hostile beasts. The parents, played by Ewan McGregor and Anne Hathaway, scramble to find a way home before they're squished or eaten by the local monsters.
Early footage suggests The End of Oak Street combines family drama, sci-fi mystery, and creature feature thrills. With cinematography by Michael Gioulakis (a collaborator of M. Night Shyamalan and Jordan Peele) and a score by Michael Giacchino (who's done everything from Star Trek to Marvel,) The End of Oak Street is shaping up to be a major production.
After several delays, the project is set for release on August 14th 2026. The End of Oak Street is still shrouded in secrecy, but its ambitious concept, major cast, and IMAX rollout show the studio has immense faith in the property.
