Invader Zim is the very definition of a cult classic.

Created by comic book writer, cartoonist and brilliant social media nutcase Jhonen Vasquez, the series debuted on Nickelodeon in early 2001. Invader Zim's initial run was a short-lived one, however, as the series was canceled after two seasons, with only 27 of the contracted 40 episodes completed.

Nevertheless, despite being off the air for well over a decade, Invader Zim has managed to maintain a dedicated fanbase who have continued to express their love for the series over the years. That said, regardless of how many "bring back Zim" petitions such fans floated over the years, the odds of Nickelodeon greenlighting a revival always seemed slim to none.

That was of course until 2017, when -- at long last -- Nickelodeon confirmed it would, in fact, be producing a brand-new television film based on the beloved, twisted cartoon. That film, Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus, has now officially launched on Netflix. Vasquez returned to write the film, with most of the television show's voice cast reprising their roles as well.

Longtime Zim fans are likely ecstatic to see the film more than lives up to the show, embracing what made it such a cult favorite while also not being afraid to experiment with new ideas.
