Is Mystique The Main Character Of X-Men: Apocalypse?
The official synopsis suggests so.
Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvels X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.Synopses normally aren't that exciting - they just puff up the movie's plot, which we've usually known about well in advance - but sometimes we learn really cool plot details from them. And, like Batman V Superman before it, Apocalypse's has a doozy. Turns out that Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique is going to be the movie's key good guy protagonist, uniting the X-Men against En Sabah Nur and his Horsemen. Raven's had a much boosted role in the X-verse since the Hunger Games star took over, worked in as a key element of Professor X and Magneto's separation in First Class and Days Of Future Past, and now she's getting an even bigger part. Given that Lawrence has suggested in the past that she's ready to leave the role, could this be Fox making the most of their limited time with her? And could this be setting her up for a valiant death in the new timeline DoFP has created? We'll find out next year. X-Men: Apocalypse is in cinemas 19th May 2016 in the UK and 27th May 2016 in the US.
