Ever since the casting was announced, the Marvel fanbase have been butting their collective heads together in an attempt to figure out exactly who the Creed actress could be set to star as in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok.

It had already been stated in the original Deadline report that Thompson would likely find herself cast in the role of a "powerful superhero" character and would probably appear across multiple films.

And now Latino Review are reporting that Thompson may have been cast as the MCU's version of "Valkyrie."

Marvel Comics

If you're unfamiliar with Valkyrie (real name: Brunnhilde), she's a powerful warrior chosen by Odin to lead the Valkyrior, super-charged Asgardians, into battle. She was also a one-time love interest of Thor, which supports the theory that her character will be poised as a new romantic partner in the wake of Portman's departure from the MCU.

Directed by Boy helmer Taika Waititi, Thor: Ragnarok will once again find Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hilddleston and Anthony Hopkins as Thor, Loki and Odin respectively. New additions to the Thor cast this time around also include Mark Ruffalo's Hulk and Cate Blanchett as Hela.

Thor: Ragnarok is due November 3, 2017.
