This is clearly a rehearsal for the scene where Mary finds herself behind some bushes without her bathrobe on. Capra is giving some direction to Reed while a gentleman is holding on to Reed's belt. His slightly mischievous face makes me hope he wasn't thinking of trying to take the bathrobe off.
