Though the title is still being kept under-wraps for now and the cast haven't yet received the screenplay with shooting gearing up for an early 2012 start.
The guessing game begins. Access Hollywood are confirming that J.J. Abrams' soon to be shooting Star Trek sequel 'won't be called Star Trek 2', so we can expect something of a subtitle for it. i.e. Star Trek: Something, Something. In the past the Trek franchise has given us; (original crew) The Motion Picture (which doesn't really count) The Wrath of Khan The Search for Spock The Voyage Home The Final Frontier The Undiscovered Country (next generation) Generations First Contact Insurrection Nemesis It goes without saying the titles for the original crew films were more intriguing than the rather generic titles of The Next Generation crew, especially the later they got into making the Picard movies. Hopefully J.J. Abrams is thinking more along those lines for his sequel and obviously it's impossible to predict without knowing what the story for the sequel is about, which not even cast members know right now. We are led to believe (Zoe Saldana and Simon Pegg have said so lately anyway) that Paramount haven't issued them with anything more than a few morsels of information but that Bob Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof's screenplay is probably the fedex parcel they are most looking forward to receiving. By the way, I'm guessing the villains will be Klingons this time around. Hasn't it been too long since we had a really good Klingon Trek story? J.J. Abrams will start filming Star Trek 2 in January. The main Enterprise crew are all returning as their sequel contracts have been processed but no other casting has yet taken place. Previously; J.J.
