3. The Absolutely Terrible Villains

It was always going to be a tough act to follow considering that the first movie was lucky enough to get Werner Herzog as its villain, but Never Go Back makes almost no effort to craft a compelling antagonist.

The focal villain is a man known as The Hunter (Patrick Heusinger), who doggedly chases Reacher and Turner down throughout the movie. He's largely stoic and doesn't really get to do much other than be violent, so it's hard to even call him much of a character.

Then there's Robert Knepper's malevolent General Harkness, whose screen time totals around five minutes, which given Knepper's talents at playing creepy slimeballs, just feels like an absolute waste.

They really didn't even try to come up with an interesting baddie here. Woeful.
