James Bond Skyfall: Watch First Sam Mendes Video Blog
Director's first production blog shows off behind the scenes footage of him filming the 23rd James Bond features and he explains what drew him to the character.
Director Sam Mendes has started a video production blog for his first James Bond film Skyfall, and although it's not as detailed or as extensive as the blogs Peter Jackson provides during the makings of his films, it's a good start and better than nothing. The very teasing clip that runs at only 90 seconds in length features Mendes talking about his affinity and excitement for working with Bond, what drew him to the property and features many shots of him working behind-the-scenes with his actors, including brief moments of him filming Daniel Craig on some kind of stealth mission in a very deliberately lit locale. There's also hints of shooting locations such as an airport and obviously the London streets (the first time Brit Mendes has shot in this country) and other recongisable places if you look closely. In the clip Mendes says he wanted to make Skyfall because it afforded him the chance to make a "fabulous, glamorous and escapist movie and at the same time say something about the world we're living in." Oh yeah, that got me excited too. You can watch the clip below; http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=NRY55wrWSwM#! In Skyfall, Bond's loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost. The film stars Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Judi Dench, Helen McCrory, Ben Whishaw, Albert Finney and Ola Rapace. The 23rd Bond film is coming October 26th in the UK but not until November 9th in the US. Columbia Pictures debuted the clip via 007.com and it might just be a page worth bookmarking as there will be more of these to come through production, including first look images like the one of Judi Dench and Mendes below.
