Jodie Foster & Abigail Breslin want to visit Nim's Island

Possibly one of the biggest female draws around these days, Jodie Foster, is in final talks for a role in Nim's Island. Abigail Breslin who played that weird kid in Little Miss Sunshine is also close to reaching an agreement for the flick. From Variety....

"Nim's Island" concerns a young girl who accompanies her scientist father to an isolated island in the South Pacific. When he is lost at sea, she communicates electronically with a person she imagines to be a character from a book but is in fact a reclusive author.
Obviously Breslin will be that young girl. No word on Jodie Foster's character but my guess would be she will be playing the kid's mother, which tends to be a common role for her these days. Mark Levin and Jennifer Flackett will be directing the movie. Both are more well known for the scripts they have written (Wimbledon, upcoming Journey 3-D) which should begin filming this summer. In other news... Breslin is also set to star in American Girl. The movie which will be based on those extremely creepy and lifeless dolls will see her play Kit Kittredge, an 11 year old who tries to save her family during the depression. Narnia script writer Ann Peacock wrote the script for that movie which currently has no director attached, but a filming date of June 4th planned. source - variety
