8. Keanu Reeves' Outstanding Performance
To the surprise of nobody, Keanu Reeves once again knocks it out of the park in a role that quite literally feels custom-built for his skill set.
In character terms, Reeves takes a man who could so easily become a one-note caricature and imbues him with just enough droll humanity to make him more than a senseless killing machine.
But of course, the real test of Reeves' mettle is the action, and he once again delivers in spades.
Watching a 54-years-old Reeves speed about the screen and take enemies down by the dozen (literally) is an exhausting experience and a testament to just how seriously he takes the filmmaking craft on display here.
Knowing that Reeves himself is performing the overwhelming majority of the action adds a massively tactile element to the movie, especially one so reliant on its set-pieces.
Given that Reeves had quite the post-Matrix slump to deal with, it's great to see his career rejuvenated with what is now a trilogy of high-calibre genre films - and high-quality performances from the man himself.
