Joker Origin Movie: 10 Reasons Fans Should Be Worried
2. The Joker Needs A Hiatus
There's something The Joker needs a lot more than a solo outing - a hiatus.
This is a character we've seen more versions of on screen than Superman, yet Warner and DC are happy to flirt with overexposure by respawning him once again.
The Joker is one of only two villains to face off against Adam West, Michael Keaton and Christian Bale's takes on Batman, and since Catwoman is more anti-heroine than foe, she hardly even counts.
Add these screen outings to the myriad times we've seen the Clown Prince in video games, animation and comic books and the problem becomes depressingly apparent - The Joker is in dire need of a long holiday.
Comic movies have reached a point where innovation would go a long way, so how about bringing lesser-known Batman villains to the big screen instead of tried and tested foes, or tap into the Elseworlds universe to take the audience out of its comfort zone?
A live-action Batman vs. Dracula or Gotham by Gaslight would really turn the superhero genre upside down.
