Jonzeing for WILD THINGS

By Will Reynolds /

It's been way too long since Spike Jonze's last movie ADAPTATION. Jonze, along with his contemporaries David O Russell, Paul Thomas Anderson and David Fincher are hardly prolific but they always make something worth talking about. That foursome are probably the closest we've had to matching up with the creative force of Coppola/Lucas/Scorsese/Spielberg in the 70s. Jonze has been out of the game for almost six years, but he'll soon be back with WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE, according to IMDB it's:-

"An adaptation of Maurice Sendak's classic children's story, where Max, a mischievous little boy, creates his own world - a forest in habited by fabulous wild creatures who crown Max as their ruler."
A kids movie is probably not the type of thing cineastes would have wanted to see from Jonze at this stage in his career but anything he directs is worth a look. Here's two stills courtesy of Rotten Tomatoes via The Movie Blog.
