Joseph Gordon-Levitt: 5 Reasons Why He Was Awesome Before 2012

2. Zooey Deschanel

Zooey and Joseph were side by side in the unconventional rom-com 500 days of Summer. Critics admired the quirky realism of their relationship and the ending that doesn€™t leave you happy, loved-up and restored. Their chemistry can be attributed to a film they made much earlier; the even more realistic and unromantic Manic. Joseph plays Lyle Jensen a teenager with anger management issues. He is committed into the juvenile wing of a mental hospital where he meets Tracey, played by Deschanel. Tracey is a black lipstick wearing depressive who screams in her sleep and suffers with the trauma she endured at the hands of her rapist. Definitely not easy-going, would you like sweet or salt popcorn with that, type of material. The friendship these two have develop onscreen had led to a great off-screen display of fun and affection. Check out the Sid and Nancy spoof or their music video for Zoeey€™s band She&Him or their New Year€™s eve duet. They€™re a bit like John Travolta and Olivia Newton John, just much cooler and a lot less cringe worthy.
