Jumping The Shark: 9 Franchise Derailing Films
6. Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo
Filmed a scant six months after the original Breakin' became a surprise hit, Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo jumped the shark of the Breakin' franchise so severely adding the subtitle 'Electric Boogaloo' to a sequel has become a standard joke for signifying that a film's story is being continued not for artistic but for mercenary reasons: as in "The King's Speech 2: Electric Boogaloo" or "The Tree of Life 2: Electric Boogaloo", etc.
Produced by legendary schlockmeisters Mehanem Golan and Yoram Globus (whose output includes such classics as Cobra and the American Ninja series) Breakin' 2: Electric Bugaloo is a bizarre, nonsensical aberration that defies description, a day-glo acid nightmare. Some choice scenes include two characters, Ozone and Turbo, dancing with an inflatable doll while Ozone dispenses dating advice to Turbo and Turbo breaking the law of gravity by dancing up the walls of his room.
