Speculation has been building for months now as to whos going to be helming everyones favorite Dino franchise. With the recent announcement of indie filmmaker Colin Trevorrow as Jurassic Park IVs director, many fans were left wondering with a major question who the heck is Colin Trevorrow?! Good question, since he has only directed one feature film, the small budget pic Safety Not Guaranteed. Moreover, he doesnt have any big budget studio experience unlike rumored candidates such as Jon Favreau. Also, Trevorrrow is only 36 years old relatively young for a director on this sort of project. So what does this all mean for the film? The following are 5 potential results and implications of hiring the novice for this storied franchise....
5. A Tribute to the First Film
One of the deciding factors for hiring a young filmmaker was supposedly to hook someone who grew up loving and respecting the Jurassic Park Universe. Trevorrow was in his late teens when the first film was released, so one could see how the movie impacted his cinema sensibilities and maybe even led him to become a director. The idea of hiring someone in love with franchise could mean that perhaps we are not headed for something totally and wildly different, as many have hinted and speculated. I could imagine that Trevorrow would like to pay tribute to the first Jurassic Park film this could mean we see plenty of references, winks, nods, and influences pertaining to the original installment. Most importantly, this could mean the movie is set on an island, maybe even Isla Nublar from number one, and not in a city or some other type of environment. The recent rumors about shooting in Louisiana and Hawaii are also adding to the speculation that JPIV is set on a jungle island.
