The Movie: The Lost World Method of Death: Without Eddie's efforts to save Ian Malcolm, Sarah Harding and Nick van Owen from their cliff-hanging predicament, the three would've ended up splattered on the rocks below. As a reward for his heroism, the two Tyrannosaurs returned to the scene and attacked his car, tearing away the roof to expose him inside. Unable to pull free his air rifle, the defenseless equipment genius was pulled out of the car and flipped into the air, where his torso was caught by one Rex as the other pried away the lower half of his body. As the first on-screen demise in the film, it was viciously effective and a surprisingly dark end for an otherwise innocent character, but stood as an early reminder of the series' theme of nature triumphing over technology.
